It's super easy on Linux.  Each distro has it's own way.  On Ubuntu first install desktop GUI you want.  Log out, and when you log back in you will see the option to select what window manager you want.<br>

On Slackware, just type xwmconfig & select one of the installed, log out & log in.<br>
