pleasure of being a technical reviewer for the book, and heartily<br>

introduction to Octave. The book begins with the very basics, from<br>
installing Octave and elementary flow control operations to more<br>
sophisticated applications like numerical solutions of elliptic PDEs,<br>
statistical description of data, and Fourier analysis of signals. It<br>
also covers more advanced programming topics such as how to create<br>
standalone C++ applications with mkoctfile or how to prepare<br>
Octave-Forge packages. I myself learned a thing or two about Octave as<br>
