when you boot normally and login as root type "init 1" and the system will boot into single user mode. <br>

I've tried this on my laptop after forgetting all of my passwords and it<br>
did drop me to a root shell. When I tried to do a 'passwd' to change<br>
mine, it only allowed me to type in one character before accepting it as<br>
an entry. Look out for that issue so you don't overwrite the password to<br>
an account you do know the password to.<br>
