Though it's not the same distro, I frequently have to troubleshoot
sound on my Ubuntu box. It just stops working every couple of months.
Keeps me entertained. <br>

You could go through at least some of these troubleshooting steps.
Maybe something will show up. This will show you how to confirm that
your card is detected, your drivers are loaded and that Alsa is set up
properly. <br>

Good luck! Sound is the last remaining item that really frustrates
me. I have been a full-time Linux user for many years (at home
anyway), using several distros including Debian, Redhat before they
split it out into several flavors, Libranet, Gentoo, Linux from Scratch
and finally Kubuntu. Sound in each of them has been the thorn in my
side. It's even more challenging that video drivers.<br>
