I never had luck with this.  I usually do one of the following 
(sometimes both).

Pull the drive & attach it to a machine with Anitvirus.  Scan it then 
try to repair the damage.

or, pull the drive and attach it to another machine.  Pull any files off 
they want to save.  Put the drive back in the original machine, and 
reinstall.
