Not that there aren't already 5000 ways to do this, but at one point, I wrote a tool to make a text file out of directory lists with lots of gui-checkable options. http://armbrust.dyndns.org/programs/directoryLister.html I wrote it for exactly this purpose, when I was using systems that didn't have all the stuff on the command line. If you have java installed, you can webstart it right from the above page. Or, if you don't trust me, the source code is linked there too :)
