The slot can be cut into the material surrounding the screw as long as the damage done that way does not matter otherwise. I cut the slot with a hacksaw or Dremel tool. Then carefully back the screw out with an ordinary flat screwdriver. I assume the screw is far too small to drill out and use an Easy-out extractor. Another method that's worked for me once or twice, but again is probably not too likely in this case, is to attempt to solder a stiff wire or other extension to the top of the screw. But unless the screw is very loose and the heat from soldering does no damage, this method doesn't work. Good luck! Kraig
