If actually using the desktop is fine, then you're already set. For my use (being a long-time Red Hat/Fedora kool-aid drinker) on old hardware, I use FC6 with XFCE. For REALLY old hardware, I'm hoping work on the RULE project gets more active. (www.rule-project.org) Chris
