Well .. in theory that is always nice. But ... there is always a but ... when a system crashes and the business needs it the next day to fill a few hundred prescriptions for a nursing home ... there is no time to call Compaq and have then send you the CDs. You improvise to make sure the client is up and running ASAP ... that is why I went ahead and did a clean install with XP Pro .. since that was readily available. The system was a refurbished Compaq bought from another vendor. I have my doubts that Compaq would do a thing for the owner of the system .. I could be wrong .. but that is my guess. Yes ... a set of recovery disks should have been run by the client when they bought the system .. but they were not. It is sad that the client has a legitimate XP Home license key ... and it sounds like it will be hit and miss in order for him to ever make any use out of it. Thanks for all the input.
