Thank you for the reply. I gently massaged /etc/dovecot.conf and it still
looks like it may not be working - time will soon tell.

Basically I, I can download folders, and I have got a few old messages
delivered (the server was off line for over a week).

In /var/log/secure, I get the messages:
dovecot-auth: pam_succeed_if: requirement "uid < 100" not met by user (all
the various imap users).

This happens everytime an MUA logs in.

This looks ambiguous to me. I have not learned PAM, but does this mean what
it looks like, that authentication failed?

If so, how do I correct that?
