This and the tape drive > are the only scsi device in the system. I have an adaptec 2940 card. I had to use the kernel from <slack_cdrom1>/kernels/adaptec.s/ to get the card recognized at boot. Otherwise you can roll your own kernel. Get your cards model# and poke around in the kernels directory until you find one that works. There should be some README files in there that tell what each is for. > > Try adding > > ":sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp960c" to /etc/printcap and make sure that > > /var/spool/lpd/hp960c exists and that it's group "lp" and mode 775 > > then restart lpd. > > > Added the line and I get the following (I submitted one job, > apologies on the formatting): > > root at fjorn:/etc/rc.d# lpstat -t > scheduler is running > system default destination: hp960c > printer hp960c at fjorn unknown state. enabled since Jan 20 08:26 2004. > available printer hp960c1 at fjorn unknown state. enabled since Jan 20 > 08:26 2004. available Printer: hp960c at fjorn (dest hp960c at fjorn) > Queue: 1 printable job > Server: pid 13249 active > Unspooler: pid 13287 active > Rank Owner/ID Class Job Files Size > Time active root at fjorn+610 A 303 /etc/hosts > 626 08:26:26 done root at fjorn+610 A 262 /etc/hosts > (above line repeats 33 times) > 626 08:26:26 Error: loop in printcap- > hp960c at fjorn.int.mn-ttkd.org -> hp960c at fjorn Printer: hp960c1 at fjorn - > ERROR: spool queue for 'hp960c1' does not exist on server > fjorn.int.mn-ttkd.org non-existent printer or you need to run > 'checkpc -f' root at fjorn:/etc/rc.d# ps aux|grep lp > lp 7579 1.7 0.7 9308 7164 ? Personally I found it to be the easiest way to get a printer going under slackware. as root: cd /var/spool/lpd rm -rf <insert_and_printer_directories_here> cd /usr/share/apsfilter ./SETUP and follow the menu prompts on the screen. Let it overwrite your /etc/printcap (save a copy of your existing one if you're paranoid). Be sure to print the test page and you should be off and running. -- scot _______________________________________________ TCLUG Mailing List - Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota http://www.mn-linux.org tclug-list at mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-list
