Thanks Tom for the information you provided. I have a basic question here. What is the difference between Blackdown Java and Sun Java? Which would one prefer and why? I just want to know this as I am not clear about this. Is there any link that answers my questions? -----Original Message----- From: Tom Marble [mailto:tmarble at info9.net] Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2003 12:20 PM To: tclug-list at mn-linux.org Subject: Re: [TCLUG] Blackdown Java - 1.4.1-01 - Problem with RedHat 9 Sadanapalli, Pradeep Kumar (MED, TCS) wrote: > I downloaded blackdown java .... > I am running RedHat 9 FYI Sun will release J2SE 1.4.2 really soon (probably tomorrow!) which includes lots of good stuff, including two notable improvements on Linux: - threading performance improvements (fix in the JVM) - NPTL support (RedHat backported this to RH 9) You will be able to get it from the usual spot... http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html or the new "consumer" oriented site at http://java.com FFI please see: 1.4.2 Performance Whitepaper http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/1.4.2_whitepaper.html Tuning Garbage Collection with the 1.4.2 Java Virtual Machine (there are parallel and concurrent collectors as of 1.4.1!!!) http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc1.4.2/ Java Performance Portal http://java.sun.com/docs/performance/ HTH, --Tom _______________________________________________ TCLUG Mailing List - Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota http://www.mn-linux.org tclug-list at mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-list
