Linux/Network Support Technician ================================ Nagios Enterprises is a local, Twin Cities-based software company that's disrupting the IT infrastructure monitoring market. Our Open Source monitoring product is used by hundreds of thousands of organizations worldwide and has strong brand recognition that rivals long-term industry behemoths. We're looking for a knowledgeable tech that knows their way around Linux and networking concepts and protocols. This position would provide technical support, documentation, and testing for Nagios and related IT management software to support our customers' needs. Your duties will include: ------------------------- - Providing technical support - Writing and reviewing technical documentation - Working with the tech team to solve problems - Testing software that integrates with Nagios A rough estimate of how much time you'll spend doing different things: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - 60% Technical Support (email and forum postings) - 20% Testing and Integration - 20% Documentation (content creation) Required qualifications: ------------------------ - Local to the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area - 2+ Years work experience in Linux/network/systems administration - Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (HTTP, SMTP, SNMP, etc.) - Excellent written and verbal skills - Attention to detail - Professional work ethic and attitude - Ability to work well in a team environment - Ability to learn quickly - Excellent customer service skills - Scripting experience (Perl, Shell, Python, etc) - Experience with: - Windows (desktop and/or server operating systems) - Linux (CentOS or RedHat required) - Apache - Linux package management (RPMs, etc) Additional desired skills: -------------------------- - Experience with VMware / Microsoft virtualization solutions (e.g. ESX and Virtual Server) - Experience with Web, DNS, FTP, and mail servers - Experience with Microsoft Server operating systems - Experience with programming languages (PHP, C/C++, etc) - Experience with MySQL and/or Postgres Term and Compensation: ---------------------- Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
