http://www.govdelivery.com/about-us/position/technical-operations-manager/ POSITION SUMMARY GovDelivery is seeking a Technical Operations Manager to lead the Company's technical operations team who is primarily responsible for managing the availability, reliability, and security of all company production systems, products, and associated platforms. GovDelivery's services are delivered entirely from these platforms and reliable, scalable technology operations are critical to the business. The Technical Operations Manager will manage a team of systems administrators and will interface with Technical Support, Development, Product Management and company management to ensure that the infrastructure supports future scale, system enhancements and performance metrics. RESPONSIBILITIES * Ensure availability, reliability, and security of 24x7x365 Java and Ruby production business applications deployed on Linux servers * Manage projects, establishing tasks/timelines/deliverables and ensuring staff remains on task and accountable in meeting project deadlines and deliverables * Interface with Technical Support, Development, Product Management, business users and clients in design, development, enhancement, testing, validation and implementation of new systems and/or existing system enhancements * Keep abreast of emerging technologies and define appropriate technologies and standards for use within the company's business applications * Perform operational and performance qualification validation prior to the implementation of new systems and/or enhancements * Recruiting, developing and inspiring staff members; growing Technical Operations team as necessary to accommodate explosive company growth * Develop and implement disaster recovery programs and business resumption plans REQUIRED QUALIFICATION * Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience) * Experience in technology project management required (5 years preferred) * Systems administration experience in a web hosting environment (5 years preferred) * Experience hiring, developing and managing technology employees (3 years preferred) * Extensive knowledge of and experience in support and management of business applications * Experience in a SaaS environment strongly desired * Prior management experience leading teams in a fast-paced high-availability environment * Demonstrated ability to maintain a high-level of accuracy and efficiency while managing multiple projects and multiple people * Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions * Experience with high-speed transactional systems * Experience with release and change management * Experienced in analyzing data/risk/options, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations based on supporting evidence that will have a positive impact on the business * Strong working knowledge of server virtualization, networking, SAN technology, web servers, database servers, load balancers, firewalls, RedHat/CentOS Linux * SAGE Level IV preferred ADDITIONAL SKILLS * Outstanding written and oral communication skills * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment * Experience in a high-tech start-up, software solutions sales/delivery, or web-based solutions sales/delivery preferred * Experience working with email technologies on the server and client side * Experience with VMware virtualization technologies * Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, etc.) * Experience with JMS/ESB software operations * Experience with NetApp and Hitachi SAN products * Vendor management experience, including negotiating purchase and service agreements with computer hardware/software providers and network providers -- *Torleiv Flatebo* | Director of Operations *Gov**Delivery* /get the word out./ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
