From mlicke at huntgrp.net Tue Aug 11 08:53:13 2009 From: mlicke at huntgrp.net (Mark Licke) Date: 11 Aug 2009 09:53:13 -0400 Subject: [tclug-jobs] Unix\Linux Admin Message-ID: <1402318483.1249998793053.JavaMail.cfservice@webserver52> Hello I am looking to fill a position here in the metro are with the following skills. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Email or calls are acceptable. Thanks, AIX/Linux & Solaris knowledge with detailed knowledge of AIX or Linux. Adept administrators can adapt to the variations if they have a solid foundation in one or more of the Unixes. I would avoid candidates that heavily utilize the menu or gui based administration tools, ie in AIX using smitty only or in Linux using the X11 desktop tools only. Working knowledge of TSM would be a plus, understanding a backup product in depth helpful. Solid networking and application troubleshooting skills. I look for someone that has a dichotomy of logical thinking/problem solving and the ability to think outside the box. This implies a general knowledge of TCP/IP. Shell scripting with bourne/korn shell, perl, sed and/or awk highly desirable. If a person can shellscript well, a lot of time consuming tasks can be reduced to a script and their time can be better spent on projects versus maintenance items. Understanding of SAN and storage systems is desirable. Person should be familiar with storage related tools from the O/S perspective (logical volume managers, file system types, device configuration, etc.) and tools on the SAN/array side. If a candidate lacked the SAN/array side but was strong on the host side, I would not eliminate them. Desirable skillset would be 3rd party software packages: Symantec/Veritas foundation suite and cluster for unix, Connect:Direct, web software (apache, mysql), LDAP tools.
