Position Overview: 
The UNIX Systems Administrator position supports the computing environment 
that runs ShopNBC's 24x7 business. A senior level TSM and SAN Storage 
Systems Administrator able to provide daily support for the TSM backup 
environment and the Hitachi Storage arrays.

Essential Functions: 
Principle Accountabilities & Authorities: 
Work under direct supervision of the Manager of UNIX Systems 
Administration. 
Perform day-to-day UNIX systems administration tasks, including booting, 
user management, file system maintenance and monitoring. 
Perform basic scripting using shell or Perl to automate routine 
administration work. 
Serve as a front-line interface to users, performing trouble ticket 
management and dispatching to other Systems Administrators. 
Assist with UNIX team project tasks. 
Monitor and perform daily TSM admin tasks. 
Conduct capacity planning and systems performance and monitoring. 
Monitor and perform daily SAN admin tasks: Hitachi, McData directors. 
Other duties as assigned. 

Travel: 
No travel required. 

Career Path: 
Systems Developer, DBA, Oracle DBA > Lead > Manager > Director 

Qualifications: 
Education: 
Bachelor's degree (B.A.), or equivalent experience 
Experience: 
1 to 3 years of UNIX systems administration experience required. 
Good knowledge with UNIX servers: AIX and SUN Solaris. 
Experience in TSM backup environment and the Hitachi Storage arrays. 
Required considerable experience with UNIX operating systems, especially 
AIX, Solaris, and Linux on IBM, Sun and Intel platforms. 
Required experience with TCP/IP network configuration, including 
addressing and routing, DNS, NFS, NIS and automounter client side 
configuration. 
Required experience with UNIX system performance monitoring. 
Required ability to write administrative scripts with languages such as 
shell or Perl. 
Desired familiarity with large site system administration that includes 
high availability, RAID storage systems and SANs. 
Equivalent to USENIX SAGE Level II.
