Message-ID: <3a8ff9800611170643y3b8c98a0m521ee60d21c94d7a@mail.gmail.com> Hope this isn't considered off-topic, but I'd rather present to semi- local at least before blasting to the world. I am not a recruiter, this person would report directly to me. We have a Systems Engineer position open at a large regional telephone company that is also a top 25 in the world (by subscriber base) ISP. This position consists of maintaining a 24/7 99% (one token special purpose Solaris box) FOSS environment, developing new products, and final root cause escalation. Environment is a mix of Debian and RedHat ES and various open source software. This is pure systems, no networking. Ideal candidate would have very strong Linux experience, preferably in a large connection environment, strong Perl, and experience working in a corporate setting. New ISP Systems members are issued a new Mac Powerbook (we don't do Windows in our department). If you are the right person, you will be interviewed.....quickly. Salary is competitive and we have excellent benefits (2 weeks vacation first year, 4 after 5 years, large yearly bonus, great medical, 5 personal/sick, 11 holidays). Please send resumes directly to me for immediate consideration. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I am leaving my position as Associate/Assistant Director at the College of Biological Sciences. We do a lot of Debian GNU/Linux work for web hosting, some Solaris, some Mac OS X 10.3/4 Server, and we're starting to get into Active Directory for Windows desktop support. It's a many-hats position; challenging, and fun to do. Do NOT send me a resume. Instead, watch this site: https://employment.umn.edu The position has not yet been posted. Give the University a week or two to finish up the appointment review. I will ping the list again once it is, though it might be more expedient to check the site ever few days. (I start my new position on the 28th.) Select "Search Postings" and narrow the search to: Position Category: Staff - Information Technology Campus Location: Twin Cities College: Biological Sciences, College of The Position Title will be "Associate Director", but you should be able to search w/o that. Note, you can search for other IT positions on any of the U's campuses through this interface. Once you find a job, you can apply for it, submitting your resume and answering a few questions. I personally don't know the system, as I was hired before it was put in place. It's mostly a Linux/UNIX technical position with some management, some tech support, and a bit of Windows. I've only heard of it waived once. Thanks, -- Scott Dier
