SGI has an immediate opening in Eagan, MN for a Linux Kernel Software
Engineer to join our Linux Kernel Software team. This team is focused on
Linux kernel scaling, performance, VM, NUMA, RAS, scheduling &
partitioning on SGI's Intel Itanium 2 based CC-NUMA Altix product line.
The team also assists with platform bring up where kernel meets
hardware. Responsibilities for the position include designing,
developing, porting, debugging, integrating, and supporting Linux kernel
and system-level code for the SGI Altix system. This position also
involves working and collaborating closely with the Linux community and
major Linux distributors.
 
 
BS in Computer Science or equivalent. At least 5 years Linux/UNIX
software development experience. Fluency with the C programming
language. Experience building, modifying and debugging/dump analysis of
Linux and/or UNIX kernels. Must have good communications skills, be a
team player, and work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A track
record of effectively working and interacting with the outside Linux
community, SW vendors, and/or customers is desirable. Experience with a
variety of different areas within Linux/UNIX, and/or experience
resolving issues specifically involving large SMP or CC-NUMA systems is
a plus. Experience with Linux patch generation and maintenance is
desirable.
