My company moved me from a 'special projects developer' position (writing PHP on a Linux box for an Intranet application) to a 'Microsoft Developer position', and I would prefer not to do that. They're being nice and have given me about eight weeks to find something I prefer. So, I turn to you. My preference is for a job that involves some travel (<= 50%), visiting clients during a pre-sales mission, helping to understand their needs and to design a solution that works for them and for the company I represent. I have good knowledge of the biometrics industry, having spent over ten years developing systems that could capture, analyze, and accurately print fingerprints. I also know the Point of Sale business well. What I don't know, I can learn. I'm quite adaptable. Since my preferred job is not likely available, I would consider most anything that 1) paid a salary, 2) had benefits, 3) was interesting work, 4) wan Linux/Open Source/Unix related. I don't have an issue working with Microsoft systems, but I don't want to go down the road of Visual Studio .NET, which is where I am inexorably moving. Let me know if you know of anything. Thanks. _______________________________________________ tclug-jobs mailing list tclug-jobs@mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-jobs From jhawley at hissingdragon.net Wed Aug 18 12:08:31 2004 From: jhawley at hissingdragon.net (John Hawley) Date: Mon Jan 17 15:05:40 2005 Subject: [TCLUG-JOBS] Seeking Employment Message-ID: <1092848911.15968.111.camel@steelix.hissingdragon.net> Hello, I am currently seeking a Network/Linux Administrator job in the Minneapolis, MN area. I have 16 years of IT experience doing a variety of different tasks. The last 6 focused on utilizing Debian/GNU Linux. In the job I recently left, I designed and managed a TCP/IP network that involved NAT, DMZ's, and the interconnection of multiple company remote offices via VPN's and private leased lines in the US and Canada, with an employee base of around 800. I have years of hands-on experience with Cisco T1 routers, Cisco 56K-modem Access Servers, Lucent Pipeline ISDN routers, and HP and 3Com switches. The Linux servers ran IPTables-FreeS/WAN firewall/VPN's as well as the network services of DNS, DHCP, Apache/php/MySQL web servers, Squid proxy, Jabber instant message server, LprNG print server, Samba file sharing and Amanda network backups. I also have practical experience running SquidGuard web filtering, Postfix SMTP, Cyrus Imap, Amavis anti-virus, Spamassassin and OpenLDAP in a test environment. My current area of interest and study is network security as is presented in the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification program. Prospective employers or anyone with leads please see my signature for contact methods and web site for viewing my resume. Thank you.
