Was that for part-time students or a full-time staff position? I agree it's quite ridiculous if you're not a student in need of a flexible schedule and convenience of not having to commute. (Notice I'm leaving!) The sad thing is it's one of the best departments on campus, in terms of open-source, cost-effective development, yet they pay the big bucks to certain other unnamed individuals who seem only able to screw things up time and time again. Ah well, I know there are some out there who would want the opportunity (sadly none of them seem to have much in the way of Linux skills!), but we shall see... Don't worry, they still have enough $ to stuff your kids mailboxes at
the dorms with condoms and lube at least twice a year.

Maybe the College of Liberal Arts will supply as much > finger paints as we could want. The University's budget was cut by some 40%, and my tuition has gone up tremendously (now around $8k/year). The reason for the wage is that this is a STUDENT job. Did they really pay students that much more back then? I have a hard time believing that. Now, I certainly think a job with this much responsibility should be a "real" staff position, but that's just the way it is. They won't approve any additional positions, I assume (otherwise they'd try to hire me.) They don't have to pay students much or give them anything in the way of benefits. And with the utter lack of experience, knowledge, and common sense most CSCi students at the U have, I don't blame them! I asked a very similar question of the TCLUG list: http://archives.real-time.com/pipermail/tclug-list/2001-February/031186.html That is a particular response to my questions.... basically they said stay in boston! I've found there to be much more MS here in MN vs. East coast/boston. I am thrilled to say I am working as an IT Manager in a linux/bsd shop tho! I'd hope some of the people at the U of MN speak up and have some openings for you. On a different note, this list (and #tclug on irc) have been helpful to me... it helped me become "plugged in" to the linux community in MN, ive even met some people and consider some of them friends from this list. good luck duncan _______________________________________________ tclug-jobs mailing list tclug-jobs@mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-jobs
