I am trying to reach out to the Linux community regarding our training events. We will be running a Linux Administration Course the first week of March. We actually have two classes running back to back. http://www.knowledgetransferinc.com/courseDetails.asp?CourseID=KT-5001 A great course for someone who has not had a chance to take formal Linux training. Please pass this onto your members. We are offering a 20% discount to all Minnesota Linux User Group Members! We appreciate the help in passing the word. It has been far too long since our last meeting so let's try to get things rolling again. First of all, we will not be having a meeting this Saturday (Feb 4th). I do have the room scheduled for Feb 11th from noon-2pm, but as of right now that is tentative. Before I forget, if anyone is interested in presenting or speaking at an upcoming TCLUG meeting, please let me know. It can be just about anything related to Linux, like network monitoring, firewalls, MythTV, etc. and doesn't have to be anything formal. Email me if you are interested. Now, about the next meeting... I have been contacted by a vendor who is interested in giving a presentation about their products. But they are only available to do the presentation during the week, so I need to find out if there would be any interest in holding a TCLUG meeting during the week. I put up a webpoll to get a better idea on how many might attend. It would probably be down at the UofM if I can schedule a room. http://www.mn-linux.org/sympoll/index.php?dispid=119 The vendor is GroupLink and here is their little blurb they sent me: ************************************************************************ Typically when we sponsor meetings, we buy pizza, or whatever meals you are accustomed to having. Our meetings could be a forum for whatever topic you would like, from a case study of I.T. HelpDesk, to a study of ITIL and how to get the most out of your help desk. We would also encourage guest speakers like a Novell SE, Novell Partners, or anyone you would like to hear from for that matter. Our meetings are broadcast via WebEx, so you could invite anyone to participate from anywhere in the world! As an added benefit, the meetings could be broadcast to anyone in your organization that is unable to participate in person, as well as an archive link that would allow anyone to "see" the meeting after the fact. ************************************************************************ If there is not enough interest, then we will probably have a meeting on Feb 11th from noon-2pm. I currently do not have a speaker or topic for that meeting, so let me know if there is anyone who wants to present something. -- Clay
