Subject: [tclug-announce] TCLUG April 2nd Meeting - Hopkins-based Constant
Data Talks about High Availability
Message-ID:
Dear TCLUG Members,
As the temperature outside begins to warm up, so does the list of upcoming
speakers for our group.
On April 2nd, from Noon to 2:00 PM, we will be having Paul Sustman from
Constant Data joining us. His organization deals in the high data
availability space. Clustering, redundancy, and disaster recovery are their
expertise. He'll be giving us details on the latest technologies, trends,
and tools available, as well as giving us some stories from the field. With
customers like NASA, the US Navy, the Department of Justice, as well as
Digital River, it promises to be an informational, and interesting meeting.
For more information about Constant Data, check out www.constantdata.com.
* For May, we are going to be talking to Novell, and hearing about the SuSE
purchase, as well as their latest technologies coming out for Linux.
* In June, we'll be hearing from IBM's Linux team, who will be discussing
the methods of running Linux in virtual machines.
* In July, Redhat will be speaking about the latest developments in the
Linux desktop space, from their perspective.
As usual, we will be at the University of Minnesota, in the EE/Csi building,
room number 3-180. For a detailed map of the area, check out:
http://onestop.umn.edu/Maps/EE/CSci/index.html
Hope to see you there.

Subject: [tclug-announce] MNVUG Meeting Friday 4/8
Message-ID: <5F40F87C6BD74F11B53F6623@72.sub-70-218-151.myvzw.com>
It's that time again!
The next meeting of the Minnesota VERITAS User Group will take place
Friday, April 8 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at the Roseville VERITAS
facility. Directions to the facility follow.
The Minnesota VERITAS Users Group (MNVUG) is for anyone who uses VERITAS
technology on the job.? All end-users, system administrators and
consultants are welcome to join.? We meet to exchange ideas, see real world
examples of VERITAS products, learn about the latest developments and share
ideas.
We have a great topic for this meeting! But first the important stuff:
lunch! VERITAS will be arranging lunch for the meeting. Please let me
know soon if you plan on attending so that I can give them an accurate
count.
We'll start off the meeting with a presentation on VERITAS Bare Metal
Restore. This is a very cool product that addresses a key component of any
business continuance plan: server recovery. If you've never seen this in
action you'll find it interesting. Another more creative use for BMR is as
a tool for easier migration to different server hardware.
Following this we'll have an open discussion about whatever is on your
mind. Bring your questions and knowledge to help your peers solve their
problems. At the last meeting there were several good discussions; don't
miss out!
Hope to see you there!
